Information and purposes
Signing in uses your email address, a verified account identifier and session cookies. Orders store the model, offer, amount, payment reference, entitlement, accepted terms and confirmation. We use these to provide the service you request and keep a record of the contract. Messages you send us are used to respond to you. Necessary security and request information may be processed by our hosting providers to operate and protect the site.
Service providers
Neon provides account authentication and database storage. Vercel hosts the storefront. Stripe processes payments and calculates applicable tax on its own checkout page. Stripe collects the billing and location information needed for payment, tax calculation and invoices; this storefront does not receive your full card number. Cloudflare delivers release downloads. Providers receive the information needed for their part of the service. Device passwords are entered locally in the installer, not sent to the storefront. Your books, notebooks and device backups are not uploaded by checkout.
Cookies and choices
Sign-in uses necessary session cookies. This storefront does not include advertising or third-party analytics scripts. You can browse public pages without creating an account. A verified email is needed to claim or buy hosted installation access. Checkout acknowledgements concern your order and delivery, not marketing consent.
Basis for using information
Account and order information is used to take steps you request and perform the contract. Records needed to meet accounting or other legal obligations are retained on that basis. Our legitimate interests in preventing abuse and protecting accounts support necessary security processing. Order acknowledgements are not consent to unrelated marketing.
Retention
We retain account and entitlement details while needed to provide your installation access and included updates. Order, payment and agreement records are retained while necessary for applicable accounting duties, complaints and legal claims, including unresolved disputes. Correspondence is kept while needed to handle the enquiry and any related complaint. These purposes determine retention rather than indefinite retention for marketing. Contact us to request closure or deletion; we will explain any records that must remain and why. Provider security logs and backups follow the providers’ applicable retention arrangements.
International processing
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country, including outside the UK. Their privacy and data-processing terms describe transfer safeguards, including contractual safeguards where applicable. You can request information about the safeguards relevant to your data by contacting us. We do not promise UK-only processing.
Your rights
You can ask us about access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection to use of your information. Which rights apply depends on the processing and applicable law. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk or your local data protection authority.
The installation page can remember a short-lived connection to the local reMarkable helper in your browser, allowing you to reopen the page. This contains no device password and is not sent to our servers. See Resuming a local installation in our cookie policy for its contents and retention.
